Race Protocol:

Warm-up: Warm-ups for the 1, 3, 5 race can take place on the course. Please help us stagger the teams around the course during the warm-up as much as possible as a precaution against transmission

For the 2, 4, and 6 race, the athletes will need to begin their warm-up in your camp. Once all of the athletes from the race clear the course and return to their respective team camp, the next group of 40-42 athletes can move onto the course to finish their warm-up.

Please have your athletes stretch, do drills, etc., inside your team camp.

Strides can be done at your team camp or at the starting line (straight out from an athletes starting position on the line to ensure social distancing is in place at all times).

Start: Racers in Wave 1 will move to the starting line - 6 feet of social distancing will be in place on the starting line. There will be a maximum of 42 total athletes in two waves of 21 on the course at any given time.

Racers in Wave 2 will be staged behind the starting line maintaining social distance (Wave 2 will start 2 min after wave 1)

Wave 2 will wear pull tags for differentiation in case a wave 1 runner is caught.

The tags will not be pulled at the finish line. The athlete can take off after the race and dispose.

The Course:

The course is completely marked with a 15-foot running alley, cones, posts & flags. It is also narrow in a few spots.

We will have mile markers and marked off locations for coaches to stand while taking splits if you choose to do so. One coach will be allowed on the course during racing, the team's second coach will need to remain in the team camp

Please note that the course goes near the visiting team camp, please remind your athletes to stay within the designated team camp area and not approach the course. Thank you for your help managing the athletes.

Finish:

Only one coach may be at the finish line

Please make sure that, upon completion, the athletes move immediately down the gravel road and cool-down.  This is the key area to reduce overcrowding.

Transition from race 1(3)(5) to race 2(4)(6):

At the conclusion of a race, athletes will be directed back to their team camp.

At this time, the participants for the even numbers races can leave their respective team camp and continue warming up.

Cool down for participants for the odd numbered races will take place inside the team camp. This ensures that there will never be more than 42 athletes on the field of competition at any time.

Masks/Social Distancing:

Athletes will wear a mask to the starting line, carry their mask during the race, and then put their mask back on upon finishing the race.

Coaches, officials and spectators must remain masked at all times

Timing & Scoring:

We will be hand timing using a printing stopwatch.

One NT coach will get finishing times for all athletes with video (phone/iPad) as a back-up. This video can be shared for reference if you need it.  Individual places and names will need to be determined by each team.  The video should help.

A coach from each school should get times for your athletes as they finish & assist us with moving athletes back towards your team camp. That support would be much appreciated. A Coach from New Trier will help with directing athletes, too.

If you miss getting a time for a runner in your program, no problem, we will have times for ALL athletes on the printing stopwatch.

Inclement weather: Return to bus or cars. Please get the bus driver’s phone number.

Athletic Trainers: Athletic Trainer will be on site

Water: Please bring plenty of water as additional water will be very limited

Bathrooms: Located in the green shed (see Map).  1 person in the bathroom at a time.  No locker rooms are available.

Spectators:

Spectators will be allowed in designated areas outside of the fence as indicated in pink on the map.

Spectators must not cross ropes or barriers at any time.

Spectators must wear masks and maintain proper distancing.

Spectators may not enter the course and interact with athletes at anytime.

Spectators should never be on the field of competition or in the team camp.

NO DOGS are allowed at this event.

We are depending on Coaches and Athletic Departments to please share this information with your families. Thank you!
