Start of Track Season Pushed Back

Posted on January 15, 2022 by Coach Hasenstein

Good Afternoon Titan Track and Field Family,

Congrats on finishing up the first semester, I hope your final exams went well!

After much deliberation with our coaching staff and Athletic Department we have made the decision to push the starting date of the track season back 1 week to Monday, January 24th....Please make note of this and tell anyone who might be interested in coming out for the team.

The school will be doing another round of Covid testing during PE classes on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Everyone involved in this decision felt it was in the best interest of our athletes, coaches and their families to wait until the next round of test results came back.  The last the thing that any of us want is to start the season tracking down athletes who test positive and tell them to stay home for a week as well as their teammates who might have been in close contact with them.  Remember, we have close to 100 athletes on the team who will be sharing indoor space for the next 8 weeks!

Once practice begins we will be staggering practice times on the track with the girls program to reduce the number of athletes in the fieldhouse at one time (along with basketball teams).  It will be critical that masks are worn and that everyone follows the guidelines that have been given to us.  Hopefully we will all be getting back to normal soon as cases start to drop in the coming weeks.

SENIORS AND JUNIORS.....PLEASE READ THIS:  If you competed in the outdoor conference meet last year at Evanston please consider coming to an informational meeting on Thursday (1-20) right after school in the fieldhouse.  I have several topics to discuss with you before the season begins.

Thank you and please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.  [email protected]

Thank you,

Coach Hasenstein
