On Saturday, October 5, 2024, Glenbrook South’s boys cross country team traveled to Detweiller Park in Peoria, Illinois, to compete in the highly anticipated Peoria High School Invitational. The invitational took place at the same course where the IHSA State Meet will be held on November 9, 2024, giving runners a crucial preview of the state course.

The meet featured elite talent from across the state, and the competition did not disappoint. Leading the Titans was sophomore Jack Lyons, who posted a personal record time of 15:53.30 to secure 40th place overall. Senior Spencer Rudolph followed close behind, crossing the line in 16:11.80 for 57th place. Senior Cole Branstrom (63rd, 16:15.30) and junior Ryan Taylor (73rd, 16:25.60) also put in strong performances, showing Glenbrook South’s depth.

Sophomore Owen Wu (107th, 16:50.40) and junior Owen Cummings (110th, 16:51.30), both running personal bests, rounded out the scoring for the Titans, with junior Jack Kordish (141st, 17:11.10) completing the team effort.

Glenbrook South finished 10th out of 36 teams, scoring 340 points in a field dominated by Edwardsville, who took the team title with 60 points. Sandburg followed in second with 76 points, while York claimed third with 120 points.

As the Titans gear up for the postseason beginning next week, they will look to build on these performances and continue sharpening their strategies on this challenging course. With their depth and growing momentum, Glenbrook South remains a strong contender in the final weeks of the season.
