In the first edition of the Titan Distance Alumni Spotlight, we would like to shine the spotlight on Jack Whetstone. This past weekend, Jack was placed on the USTFCCCA NCAA DIII All-American team after finishing #14 at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. Jack ran the 8 kilometer (4.97 miles) in 24:44.6, or 4:59 pace per mile!

Jack graduated from GBS in 2017 as a member of Student Council and a team captain of both Track and Cross Country his senior year. In High School, Jack ran a 15:23 3-Mile, 4:34 1600m, and 9:56 3200m. In High School, he just missed All-Conference his senior year, but he didn’t let that stop him from competing his best. After high school, Jack began his collegiate career at Emory University.

This past weekend, Jack became an USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-American. At the Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park, the location of the Championships at the beginning of October, he ran a personal best of 24:40.7 in the 8k. At the NCAA DIII South/Southeast Regional in Memphis, TN, he finished first in a field of 239 running a 24:49.3, leading the Emory team to a First Place finish. This performance lead him to earning his third UAA Athlete of the Week title as well as USTFCCA NCAA DIII South/Southeast Male Athlete of the Year. At NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Louisville, he finished fourteenth, leading Emory to a 17th place finish.

Jack’s performance has been the 3rd All-American performance by a GBS Alum in the past four years.

Way to go, Jack!
