In Memory of Coach Chuck

Posted on April 18, 2025

It is with great sadness to share that Coach "Chuck" Charles Acasili passed away suddenly on the morning of April 16th.

Here is the message from Coach Morley to the team:

It is with a broken heart that I have to bring the message that our wonderful longtime volunteer coach, Charles “Coach Chuck” Acasili passed away this morning. Coach Chuck ran cross country and track in his time at Glenbrook South (class of ‘03), and then returned for two decades to volunteer service to the programs. He asked for nothing while giving these programs everything.

Coach Chuck was a Titan in the truest sense of the term. His love for the sport was utterly infectious and his depth of knowledge of the history of our Titan programs was only rivaled by Coach Hass. Chuck would work with the distance runners in the fall and the sprinters in the spring, spending time in every facet of our program. He was a regular at State Meets and Peoria Invitationals. He recorded literally countless finishing times at Open meets that would have otherwise been lost to history, ensuring that every single athlete had the opportunity to watch their own improvement. He fostered in others the same love for the sport that he had.

Chuck believed in all the kids and made time for each and everyone one of them.  He was proud to wear a a Titan jersey in his day and was even more proud to be a coach in the program that meant so much to him.

The Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25th from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Glenview.
